One last battle.

Baldur's Gate 3 doesn't hold back from creating the scale and wonder of the Underdark while giving you plenty of secrets to uncover and unique monsters to face. As such, there are a handful of locations and events within the Underdark that you'll want to make sure you don't miss.

1 Help The Myconids

Part of the main conflict within the Underdark is the attack of the Cult of the Absolute on the myconid colony living within. In the Myconid Colony, you are tasked to infiltrate and kill the cultist responsible and, along the way, aided by a lone myconid sovereign.

This quest takes you across the Underdark, all the way to Grymforge, and will contain the best rewards of any other quest within the cavernous space. However, your choice to help Sovereign Spaw or Glut could shape the future of their colony.

2 Defeat the Spectator

Just west of the Selûnite Outpost is a rocky area littered with petrified statues of drow. Interacting with these statues or entering this area spawns one of the handful of spectators found throughout the game, which are the weaker cousins of the infamous Beholder in D&D.

This spectator fight is unique in that it will periodically unpetrify the drow and turn them against you. Just make sure you don't kill Dhourn, as he can provide essential information regarding the Adamantine Forge and a piece of a magical staff.

3 Praise BOOOAL

Tucked away among a field of Torchstalks is the Festering Cove, where a group of kuo-toa are praising their own god of blood. Since a kuo-toa's belief has the power to make gods real, a lowly redcap is tricking this tribe to gain power.

From here, you have a number of options to deal with this group, including sacrificing one of your own for a permanent buff, as long as you don't mind losing a companion. If the Kuo-toa remain alive, be prepared to fight them later during Act Two in the Shadowlands.

4 Find The Pieces To Mourning Frost

Split between its three distinct parts, the icy staff known as Mourning Frost is scattered throughout the Underdark and can easily be missed by less-than-thorough adventurers. The first piece can be found on Dhourn after looting or pickpocketing it off him after the spectator fight.

You can craft it by selecting one of the pieces in your inventory and choosing 'Combine.'

The next also involves fighting another ancient drow known as Filro the Forgotten west of the Sussr Tree, and the last can be looted after helping one of the two myconid sovereigns. This staff is ideal for Wizards or Sorcerers focusing on making a Cold damage build or just a decent source of gold to trade.

5 Save Baelen From The Bibberbang Patch

If you don't skip the myconid colony, you can find a less-than-distressed wife of a missing dwarf named Derryth. She reluctantly tasks you with finding Baelen, who is west of the colony, in a field of deadly Bibberbang.

You can safely walk along the ledge on the west side of the patch to throw Baelen's bag to him.

Getting to both Baelen and the valuable Noblestock even further in the patch can be difficult without reloading old saves constantly, but the best hint would be to remove any and all fire sources within the patch. Although you can restore Baelen's memories with the Noblestock, it's best if you let him remain as he is now.

6 Retrieve The Sentient Amulet

Across the Ebonlake, you can travel further into the Underdark and the well-defended Grymforge. In the lake of lava just west of the Adamantine Forge is a heavy, locked chest containing an amulet possessed by the soul of a monk.

Aside from being a powerful magic item ideal for Monks, the soul inside gives you a quest that takes you as far as Act Three. However, the amulet comes with a risk to its wearer, causing them to succumb to fits of laughter and madness with unlucky rolls.

7 Find The Society Of Brilliance

Tucked away in the Myconid Colony is Blurg, a member of the Society of Brilliance bent on making the Underdark a thriving, safe community. Accompanying him is one of the few "friendly" mind flayers who can attempt to remove your parasite.

8 Explore The Arcane Tower

To the far southwest of the Underdark is a dungeon-like wizard's tower filled with traps, secrets, and magic loot that is a must-visit during every playthrough. Before you head there, make sure you first visit the dog's grave south of the Sussr Tree to get the most out of the encounter.

At the top of the tower is the construct Bernard, who can provide unique dialogue and magic items, provided you read the right passages in the levels below. Just make sure to don the Guiding Light ring for even more secrets to be revealed.

9 Defeat The Bulette

In one of the more unique monster encounters found in Baldur's Gate 3 is the Bulette, which erupts from the ground and provides a tough challenge before escaping back underground after taking enough damage. Although it can be found in one of three places, it's possible to reduce it to zero before it has the chance to dive.

The ground shakes when you are near the Bulette's location.

After defeating the Bulette, you can loot the Bloodguzzler Garb from it, a clothing item that lets you generate Wrath. You can find the three locations to the far east, west, and southern portions of the Underdark if you have trouble locating it.

10 Forge Adamantine Gear

The most iconic and important location within the Underdark is the Adamantine Forge, which lets you craft powerful weapons and armor. The molds for these items are scattered about the Grymforge, and the forge itself is protected by a massive, deadly construct.

The Adamantine Forge should be the last thing you accomplish, as Grym is a very tough enemy and has the potential to wipe out your party. However, aside from forging powerful adamantine gear, you can obtain the Grymskull Helm from Grym, which functions as the only adamantine helm.
